Frequently Asked Questions
How Old Is Red Ball Jets?
The Ball Band-Uniroyal factory in Mishawaka, IN, first started making footwear in 1886 under its Ball-Band brand and later, under the popular Red Ball Jets brand from 1951-1971, when Uniroyal stopped producing footwear. The factory continued making several other products until its doors were finally closed in 1997. The facilities were eventually imploded on June 17, 2000, to make way for a public park.
Where Are They Made?
There are no factories in the USA still producing footwear using the vulcanized construction method many of the historical basketball shoes used in the 1950s, so all vulcanized skate and basketball shoes in the US today are imported, including Red Ball Jets, which are currently produced in China. All of the Red Ball Jets hats, t-shirts, and socks are proudly made in the USA.
How Does Your Sizing Run?
Our products were designed to run “true to size”, which means whatever size you wear in your other shoe styles should fit in your Red Ball Jets. It’s difficult because US footwear sizing is somewhat subjective, as there is no standard sizing measurement for the footwear industry, so if you’re unsure, you can always size up by ½ size to be on the safe side.
